Poem: Black Crow

 Hail, black crow,

I see you there

without fear

pluck the pear and fly off

in your lopsided trajectory;

Yes, you were there

when we sat

in futile silence,

so many words all unsaid

under the almond trees, blossoming;

No, I cannot say

I do know you, you know,

Though often we meet

in isolation;

Hail, black crow,

friend in need,

boon companion,

read my thoughts--

I see you fly,

Vast span of presence

brooding.
