Poem: Two in my garden
They stand together
The twin stalksIn my backyard,Sometimes remindersOf some things not done,Some weeds not pluckedWhen it was time to do so; Why I did not clear the yardIs not so important nowAs why did I want to?Indeed, I see no petalHalf as nice as those twoThat grow together, in their awkward fashion,And they have some part of meWhere it wouldn't do; It doesn’t matter anymore, of course,When other weeds have grownAlong them, only not like them at all,And choked the petuniasOut of their shallow beds; And there is some justiceIn my garden going to seed,Then standing tall and togetherOnce I’ve ceased to tend.
